Explanation:
Evelyn Waugh's Brideshead Revisited is both a classic of 20th century literature and a phenomenal British miniseries. The story follows Charles Ryder's tumultuous relationship with the dysfunctional Marchmain family of Brideshead: most specifically, Sebastian Flyte and his sister, Julia. Sebastian is charming, witty, and ultimately self-destructive. And yet somehow, he still remains vastly more interesting and likeable than Julia, who replaces him in the second half of the novel. So Sebastian, this mix is for you.

--Photos of Castle Howard by me. No, seriously, I did take them! Apparently, Evelyn Waugh only visited it once while writing the novel, but when I picture Brideshead, I can't help but think of that stately home.
--Did you hear that they're making a feature-length film of Brideshead? Michael Gambon just doesn't seem right for Lord Marchmain, but I think that Felicity Jones will make a PERFECT Cordelia.
--I've heard many good things about Ben Whitlow, but ... I can't help it - my Sebastian is blond.
--Is that any textual proof for that, though???
--I must confess: usually, when watching the miniseries, I don't feel as compelled to finish it once Sebastian runs off to Africa.

I fail as an English lit geek because I have never read this book. But this sounds like a good mix! The Stars song and "Predatory Wasp" are already favorites of mine so I assume I will like the rest.

Okay, now I have to read this so I can see the movie, because the cast looks great. (Great in general, I mean; obviously I can't judge if they're right for the parts!)

Omigod! This mix is really nice and I love that you used your own pictures for the cover art. And that you uploaded to so many different places. Yeah, the Sebastian in my head is blond too. The version they were planning before with Paul Bettany as Charles and Jude Law as Sebastian wouldn't have worked either though because they're both blond and Charles is just never blond.

I love you this mix is brilliant. I love both the book and miniseries so I am very happy. Also Sebastian is always blonde. I was actually quite sadenned when I heard about the movie, considering what has been done to English literature in films these past few years. They should just stick to making miniseries only. Anyway definitely snagging. I love your photos too.

I remember you mentioning you might one day make a Brideshead Revisited mix and now that day has come!

I'll d/l this delicious mix in the next couple of days - but on first glance it looks delightfully Sebastian. Stars currently own me and the inclusion of Your Ex-Love is Dead is terribly Charles/Sebastian. (I'd even suggest Stars' In Our Bedroom After the War as an accompaniment to this mix - perhaps Aloysius' song?) Elliot Smith's interpretation of Jealous Guy is achingly angst ridden and is Sebastian to the letter. Tim Freedman (Whitlams) - enough said.

As for the new feature length Brideshead Revisited, Matthew Goode is a treat (see Matchpoint) and Ben Whishaw has generated much buzz in RADA circles. I think it will be a frothy addition to Waugh's world and I look forward to seeing pretty boys on screen as Charles and Sebastian for a new generation of Waugh fans.

BRIDESHEAD FANMIX! I quite believe my life is complete now. I thought it was before but now I know. I love Brideshead. I've read the book twice and am now watching the miniseries. Anthony Andrews is truly the definitive Sebastian. I haven't seen the new movie but I doubt these boys could trump the majesty and charm that was Anthony or the wonderful awkward loyalty that was Jeremy.
