Explanation:
Despite all the emphasis on wealth and greed in Charles Dickens's final completed novel, Our Mutual Friend, I can't help loving the complicated relationship between John Rokesmith, the mysterious secretary of the nouveau riche Boffins, and Bella Wilfer, their mercenary young ward. Luckily cultural mores, Bella's snobbishness, and even John's secrets can't prevent those two from finding a truly happy ending.

Secret Heart - a Mix for Our Mutual Friend
01. The Delgados - Sink or Swim
You're a single survivor.
Found an ocean between you and those that you lost.
02. Elvis Costello - Jacksons, Monk and Rowe
They're looking for you high and low
Now there's nowhere for you to go
So you'll just have to come out and face the music
03. Eels - Theme For A Pretty Girl That Makes You Believe God Exists
(instrumental)
04. Jason Mraz - Bella Luna
Let's take a chance as this romance is rising over before we lose the lighting
Oh bella bella please
05. Billy Joel - Everybody Loves You Now
Baby all the lights are turned on you
Now you're in the center of the stage
Everything revolves on what you do
Ah, you are in your prime; you've come of age
06. Feist - Secret Heart
Secret heart
Why so mysterious?
Why so sacred?
Why so serious?
07. Alison Krauss - It Doesn't Matter
It doesn't matter what I want
It doesn't matter what I need
If you've made up your mind to go
I won't beg you to stay
08. Band of Horses - I Go to the Barn Because I Like The
outside by your doorstep in a worn out suit and tie
i'll wait for you to come down
where you'll find me, where we'll shine
09. Brett Dennen - Oh the Glorious
And I've been locked inside a heart for years
But I'm busting out, I'm breaking free
10. Eisley - Brightly Wound
I shall never grow up
Make believe is much too fun
11. Feist - Mushaboom
I got a man to stick it out
And make a home from a rented house
And we'll collect the moments one by one
I guess that's how the future's done
12. Sixpence None the Richer - I Can't Explain
And unwillingly I hide
The lever I must find
To release the deep
The tears withheld inside
13. Caitlin Cary And Thad Cockrell - Warm and Tender Love
Let me wrap you in my warm and tender love
Oh, I loved you for a long, long time

--Screencaps by me. I apologize for the obnoxiously pastel colour scheme; I wanted something light to reflect ironically on the darker nature of Dickens's story. Instead, I created something repellent.
--A rather slow, calming mix. I put together most of this during the summer, but it took a few more months to finally put the finishing touches - and find the beautiful closing song.
--I know Jason Mraz is really singing about the moon. I just couldn't resist.
--And don't kill me for using two Feist songs. They both were appropriate!
Enjoy!

Date: 2006-12-16 05:48 am (UTC)I prefer FileSend (http://www.filesend.net) or Sendspace (http://www.sendspace.com) for uploading zip files that are less than 100 MB. MegaUpload (http://www.megaupload.com) is a little slower, but the files tend to remain on that server longer. Yousendit (http://www.yousendit.com) is OK for single file uploads, and I'd recommend MediaFire (http://www.mediafire.com) for larger files.
Zip files aren't too hard, once you get the hang of them. Here's a short tutorial that should help (instructions mostly written in red on the corresponding images).
1. Pardon the huge amount of mullet rock - I happened to have this folder open when I read your comment. Select the songs/files you want to add to the zip, then do this (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v51/WhiteLady/ZipTut01.jpg).
2. That should bring you to this dialogue box (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v51/WhiteLady/ZipTut02.jpg). Click New.
3. You should then see this (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v51/WhiteLady/ZipTut03.jpg). Type in the name you want for your zip file, then click OK.
4. You'll be back at this dialogue box again (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v51/WhiteLady/ZipTut04.jpg). Now click Add.
5. You'll see this screen (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v51/WhiteLady/ZipTut05.jpg) for a bit.
6. Once all the files are added, it will look like this (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v51/WhiteLady/ZipTut06.jpg). Just exit out of that screen and return to your folder.
7. Now, you'll see your zip file (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v51/WhiteLady/ZipTut07.jpg) at the bottom. Just remember where it's located when you start uploading to a file sharing site.
