Oh, love of mine. This might be my college's fall musical, and I'm crossing my fingers that they pick it. I mean, what's not to like? Fops, big dresses, wigs, and exciting (slightly nonhistorical) plots are nothing short of awesome.

26, 28. A scarlet pimpernel's a rather weed-like flower, when you look it it. (Surprising that no one's ever adopted a dandelion as their symbol.)

While I don't normally use language like that (my sister jokes that my favourite expression is "goodness gracious!"), it is a direct quote from the 1932 Scarlet Pimpernel film. I don't talk like that, but Sir Percy certainly does. As an English major, I often find myself reading books where characters use coarse language. And then I have to decide whether that is in keeping with the character, or whether it's excessive. Sadly, writers often pepper their books with swear words because they want to sound edgy, without any regard towards craft or characterization.
Oh dear, forgive the lengthy comment - once I start discussing things, sometimes I just can't stop. ;)
